Dino Crisis 1 & 2 Now Available on Steam

A little over a year after their return to PC via GOG, Capcom has now brought both Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 to Steam for the very first time. As of February 13, 2026, PC players now have another way to revisit these survival horror classics, with both titles updated for modern systems and controllers.

    What’s Included

As with the GOG versions, the Steam releases have been adapted for contemporary hardware, featuring increased rendering resolution, modern controller support, and compatibility with current versions of Windows. The core games remain faithful to the originals – Dino Crisis puts you in the boots of special agent Regina as she infiltrates a research facility gone catastrophically wrong, while the sequel sends her back to the Cretaceous Period for a more action-heavy, arcade-tinged follow-up with a deeper arsenal and bigger dinosaur hordes.

    Launch Discount

Both games are available at 50% off until February 26, bringing them down to $4.99 / £3.99 each (regular price $9.99 / £7.99). That’s a great entry point if you’ve been waiting for a Steam listing to take the plunge.

    A Note on DRM

Unlike the GOG versions, the Steam releases include third-party DRM via The Enigma Protector, on top of Steam’s own platform requirements. GOG was the platform that spearheaded the preservation work bringing these games back to PC, and their listings remain fully DRM-free – so if unrestricted ownership matters to you, that’s probably still the way to go. But if you prefer everything under one roof on Steam, these releases do the job.

Either way, it’s great to see these two games becoming more accessible. The more platforms carrying them, the better.

After years of fan requests, survival horror enthusiasts can finally revisit one of gaming’s most celebrated dinosaur-themed franchises. GOG.com has answered the community’s calls by releasing both Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, complete with modern PC compatibility and numerous quality-of-life improvements.

    A Preservation-First Approach

These classic titles join GOG’s Preservation Program, ensuring they remain playable for future generations. This initiative goes beyond simple compatibility patches, offering dedicated technical support and a completely DRM-free experience. For long-time fans and newcomers alike, this means unrestricted access to these survival horror gems without any online connection requirements.

    Modern Features for Contemporary Gaming

The GOG releases come packed with substantial improvements that bring these classics into the modern era:

    • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility
    • Enhanced DirectX rendering
    • Comprehensive controller support, including DualSense and Xbox Series controllers
    • Advanced display options, including windowed mode and anti-aliasing
    • Refined music playback and volume scaling

    Accessibility Meets Authenticity

Both games maintain their original charm whilst offering new ways to experience the terror. Players can choose between English and Japanese versions, with additional features like Easy difficulty mode providing more approachable entry points for new players.

The inclusion of Dino Colosseum and Dino Duel modes adds extra value, offering arcade-style alternatives to the main campaigns. These supplementary modes provide perfect palate cleansers between intense story segments.

    Why This Release Matters

The preservation of gaming classics has become increasingly important as hardware evolves and original platforms become harder to access. GOG’s approach ensures these influential titles remain playable without compromising their original vision.

For those who missed these games during their initial release, this presents an ideal opportunity to experience why the Dino Crisis series earned its place in survival horror history. The improved technical features make the games more accessible than ever, whilst maintaining the nail-biting tension that made them classics.

    Supporting Gaming Heritage

By purchasing through GOG.com, players receive more than just the games. The platform’s customer-friendly approach includes 30-day refund policies and round-the-clock support. Moreover, the DRM-free nature of these releases ensures players truly own their copies, protecting their investment for years to come.

These releases represent more than mere ports—they’re carefully crafted preservation efforts that respect both the games’ legacy and modern gaming needs. Whether you’re returning to these classics or discovering them for the first time, there’s never been a better way to experience the dinosaur-filled horror that captivated players decades ago.
